Open Trainer Sessions

Open trainer sessions have started!

Come join us Tuesday and Thursdays at 6 pm. Bring your bike, trainer and your favorite cycling video to share with the group. We should have room to store your trainer and bike here so you don't need to haul it back and forth. We also have a few trainers available to rent so give us a call if you don't have one.

Vikings Bikes

The Vikings are back in town and even they know that riding a bike is the best way to get around. We outfitted them this year and the above photos show the story. 125 bike boxes in a garage. 125 set up bikes in a garage and finally 125 bikes at training camp. If your spouse tells you that you have too many bikes in your garage tell them it could always be worse and show them this photo. =)

Nicollet Bike was your local bike shop sponsor at several events this past month including a mountain bike race at Mt. Kato, Loon Lake Tri, and the North Mankato Tri.

In early July Justin headed out to California to visit Specialized headquarters for the 2012 Dealer Show. He got to test ride and learn about all the new product for next year. We have 2012 product trickling into the store daily. Be sure to stop by and check it out.

New Location This Fall

We will be moving the shop to Old Town Mankato this fall. That's right we are coming to town. The shop will be in the old "Harpies Bazaar" spot which is located approx. 4 blocks north of the library and 2 blocks south of the Madison Ave and Riverfront Drive intersection. We hope to be fully operational out of the new spot sometime in late November to early December.

This new spot will provide everyone a more convenient opportunity to see and try the best in bikes and equipment. Being only two blocks from Riverfront park and the Bike Trail we hope to better facilitate riders in the Mankato area. Look for group rides starting from this spot next spring and lots more classes and clinics on bike maintenance.

Nature Valley Grand Prix

Congrats to our NRC Women's team: Missing Link Coaching Systems/Specialized who place 6th overall at last weeks Nature Valley Grand Prix Stage Race. NVGP draws the top Pro women from all over the world. They competed in 6 stages over a 5 day period. Stages consisted of a 6.1 mile TT, 3 crits in St. Paul, Uptown Minneapolis and Stillwater, a 66.5 mile road race in Cannon Falls and an 81 mile road race in Menomonie. The team suffered a few crashes and 2 broken bikes but stayed strong with the highlight of the week being Anna's 4th place finish at Menomonie. Great job Ladies!

New Ulm Vehicle Safety Fair

Last night we attended the annual New Ulm Vehicle Safety Fair. This event is held at the school and teaches kids about different types of vehicles and how to be safe around them. We provided helmets and sold them at a greatly reduced rate so all kids could ride safely. Over 120 kids showed up and now have stylin helmets.

Join us at the shop by biking out, and we'll put your name on an exclusive list of riders that venture out to the shop.

We are keeping track of the number of times people ride out this season, riders that cross a certain threshold of visits via pedal power will receive an undisclosed prize at the end of the season.

As of 4/11 the current leader has 9 shop visits. I'm sure you know who you are, but do you know you only have a lead of 2. Its neck and neck with a road cyclist, a recumbent rider, and a mountain biker.
